Awesome Video of Canada's Reaction to the Gold Medal Hockey Game!
Alright guys, its time to relive the Olympics. I found this incredible video on youtube by JLishere.
Could somebody make it so that you can watch the video off of this post? I can't ever figure it out. Thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuJH2WXJGHI&feature=related |
Oooh, nice. One of my videos is in there, too :D Sends a shiver down my spine to re-live that moment.
Here's an embed for you |
URGENT: WILL PAY ANYTHING FOR ACCESS TO TIME MACHINE!!!
Oh, how I've missed you Vancouver 2010... |
how do you put a pricetag on something like this?
|
Wouldn't it be great, to wipe your memory of all the Olympic Coverage, and to relive it all over again with all the excitement, victory, and disappointments. Every moment was great, I will never be able to feel the pride and joy I did during the olympics... ;_;
|
That was epic. So many good memories from those two weeks, only went downtown once (and that was during the first week) but man, just the non-stop coverage, and all of a sudden, we win, and it's over. that honestly was difficult to get used to.
Thanks for sharing. GO CANADA GO! |
this nation is great but it needs to build more missiles, nukes, arms, and carriers, to stand on guard...at least to boost up its global image.
anyone who disagrees must be lying to himself.. |

Hopefully the Vancouver 2010 Games were a catalyst to permanently ending this sense of civic and national passivity we once had. |
you should watch part 1 first to help build up the tension even more. i swear half the views are mine.
|
Definitely watch Part 1 first. The two parts together make this super epic !!!
So much good memories back then :) |
As for memories, don't forget about "I believe in the power that comes from a world brought together as one...I believe together we'll fly, I believe in the power of you and I".
Afterall, it was only played 10 times every hour for 17-days over a half-dozen consortium channels. :D |
It was a good song, so I didn't mind :D
|
I don't think I will ever be mistaken for the most chauvinistic canuck around but even I got an emotional stir out of that video.
|
|
Sigh. Looking at those videos again, it still hasn't really sunk in that I was *there*. I wonder if it ever will.
Maybe if we don't win another Gold for 50 years lol - I can be like the 90 year old Leafs fans who say to my grandkids, "Ya know..." My blurry shot right after, hard to jump up and down and take a picture lol http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2802/4399598447_28eb36b4db_b.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/syume/4399598447/ |
One of my favourite moments in recent memory, the bar I was at was damn near deafening when Iggy gave it to Crosby who buried it. That goal was probably even more exciting than the '87 Gretzky to Lemieux goal, possibly more that Henderson's goal, mostly because it was overtime.
|
I do hope we'll all be able to witness another Olympics in Canada within our lifetimes. That is, a Summer Olympics.
In Vancouver. :p That's right, screw Toronto's ambitions of being a summer host and Quebec City's winter dreams. :D (which would make it the second time we've stolen the Olympic host title from both cities) Vancouver ought to be competitive not only globally but also nationally. Anyhow, the first ever Youth Summer Olympics is starting up in Singapore in a few weeks...that is all, no comment. |
No Vancouver 2010 thread is complete without this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cowe84zw32c&feature=related
|
Credit for our Olympic experience also needs to go to CTV. I had huge doubts about their capability at first, but wow....the quality and quantity of it all. And the way they marketed the Games helped stir up all the patriotism and civic boosterism we saw.
There was no way CBC could have done anything remotely like what CTV did. |

^ the scene with the luger's crash kinda made it awkward, especially in the context they put it in, but otherwise an incredible video.

CTV was bad - local CTV was good but it wasn't that great |

The 2040's will be the earliest for a Vancouver Summer Games IMO. Quote:
Something like 1,000 hours of live television were broadcasted by the CTV consortium, whereas CBC had proposed to pair up with the Score for a paltry 250 hours. Not to mention that their over bid for the tv rights provided VANOC with a windfall. |
I recommend checking this video out!
Sounds like most of the world was quite pleased with Canada beating the USA. (The France broadcasters had a guy from Quebec thats why he went nuts lol) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tvesS328vI&feature=related |
So a year ago, July 2009, you couldn't mention the Olympics without some assclown bragging how they were leaving the city for those two weeks because it would be a mess, blah blah blah.
Did those people not come back? Because nobody is admitting to that now. :haha: It was a great time... good memories watching these videos. |

HST When you're telling your grandkids "When Sidney scored THAT GOAL ...." They'll still be paying the bills. |

Which makes the Montreal '76 Olympic deficit of $1.5 Billion seem quaint today, and it only took them 30 years to pay it off. |

$1.5-billion back then in Montreal '76 is multi-billions today. And last I checked they were using a cigarette tax to pay it off. |
remember seeing the skyline from above during the olympic broadcasts, damn, could've been better with warships in the bay, along with all the condos...imagine the american image without nukes, would have not attracted all the " scientists"...
and because of the olympics, most ppl now see the nation as very cold, with great beauty, full of native culture and whales~~~~vancouver is now a stereotype, but the thing is, they didn'ts show the livable side of the city, at least not on asian broadcast. some ppl i talked with even thought vancouver is a cold and snowy place, just because of whistler~~ |

as i explained with humbleness to my fellows that toronto is still the "longer dick", but they persist that vancouver had a bigger one, in terms of reputation... i guess toronto, without an expo or olympic, is now a hungry dog, biting itself like mad... |
The Pan-Am games are pretty much a step in the right direction in guaranteeing Toronto will be the Canadian bid for perhaps the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Considering it will provide pretty much every facility an Olympics would need... Let's hope they aren't mindful of how wonderful a big event like the G20 was handled haha |

Get with the program TO! :???: |
Check out this new video from TimelapseHD:
|
^ wow.
It would be great if those vectoral light displays at English Bay could have been kept as a permanent fixture... |
Man, those videos bring back good memories. Hard to believe it was almost a year ago.
|
Actually I found this blooper reel compilation: http://www.youtube.com/user/JLishere#p/u/10/hKFm9-2WZpg
