Well... They just did Dilworth, now they're doing Love Park... It's just a natural progression.

So this might light one of THOSE arguments about job growth versus residential (and the conversion of Center City office space to condos/apartments) and, if so, my apologies.

They're talking about replacing the food court at the Bellvue with a grocery store.

https://billypenn.com/2017/05/14/the...might-be-done/

Its obviously not set in stone if Ellen's - which is a great spot btw - is open for a other 8 years, but still, the idea is adding fuel to the flames of a more residential business district.

Im guessing the Wawa and UArts dining hall directly across Broad have had a significant impact as well.

The last few times I was there is was pretty slow down there and there were quite a few vacancies. I'm not so sure the food court is really thriving, especially with so many other options now in CC.

I really liked the original 2400 Market plan here. ^^
Lets hope this turns out well.

Thanks. Trying to determine what this will look like. It doesn't bother me it is shorter. It looks appropriate for the river front. How the building will actually look remains to be seen.

Buyer scoops up 32 acres in Northeast Philadelphia, plans senior housing
Quote:

A nonprofit senior service agency is reportedly planning an estimated $147 million project on the former Liddonfield public housing site in Northeast Philadelphia.
NewCourtland Senior Services paid $5.5 million for the 32 acres, where it plans to build athletic facilities for use by nearby Holy Family University as well as housing and a 15,000 square-foot health center for seniors, according to a company news release. These two projects will occupy two-thirds of the property, according to NewCourtland, with plans for the remaining third to be determined at a later date.
Anyone familiar with this site? This isn't a particularly exciting project, but $147 million is a pretty substantial investment, and it serves a need, so I guess this is a great things.

I believe this is a vacant lot of trees roughly between Torresdale and Frankford Ave's. It's an area that already has a lot of open space by way of Pennypack park and if things haven't changed since the last Google drive by, the lot is fenced off. Holy Family is a few miles up Frankford Ave and is pretty much landlocked. The addition of some athletic facilities is probably good for the school to help bolster it's profile.

There won't be enough Wawas in this town until every block, building, rowhome, apartment, office, and cubicle has a Wawa of its own. :P
