The website says "opens August" - I didn't even know construction had started. Does anyone have pics?

Construction has been going on for quite some time. I drove by it today. It looks like they are just about done. Personally, I think it's very generic and resembles what's being built at 16th and Highland and what's proposed at Central/Osborn.

You think Edison is generic?? http://decocommunities.com/ They are luxury condos and will probably be some of the nicest in Phoenix.

Or is there some proposal around Alexi's that you are referring to?

They're talking about Elevation on Central looking generic, not Deco's Edison.

Re-read that. He is talking about two different projects. Central/Osborne is not Elevation.

Went by Elevation yesterday. I think it's pretty decent. It looks better than similar apartments that are a block or 2 away IMO.

Not Edison. There was a proposal for another low rise apartment complex just north of the Walgreens on Central and Osborn that looked very similar to Elevation. I don't feel that Elevation is really a game changer. It's just another rectangular, low rise, sprawling complex with a pool in the middle. It's the same general layout as the complex directly across from Central High and the one on the NW corner of Central and Indian School. It is better than a vacant lot though!

Exactly. There was a Broadstone development on Osborn. It's probably been canceled, but had the same look/layout.

Okay, yea that's what I thought. I remember something vaguely. Never did see the proposal. I for one am happy to see more residential density along Central, even if it is just 4-7 stories. I think it is especially good to see some condos mixed in. I really hope that projects JSS posted on Central & Camelback happen! Such a great area with the restaurants and restoration of the Uptown Plaza.

Broadstone is on Mcdowell and 1st street, where the Los Olivos Hotel was, next to the car wash. it is fenced off.

The development proposed for Central/Osborn was called Broadstone Central.

You guys seem confused ;)

The same company that made the Broadstone next to the Esplinade off of Camelback is doing the same thing off of Mcdowell and 1st street. Maybe the name is different???

The proposed development at the NWC of Central & McDowell across from the Phoenix Art Museum is called The Muse and it's being developed by Lennar.

gymratmanaz Jul 1, 2015 9:14 PM

I am not talking about McDowell and Central. I said MCDOWELL AND 1st ST, where the Los Olivos hotel was!!!!! :)

PHXflyer Jul 1, 2015 9:26 PM

Broadstone is simply a branding by Alliance Residential. They have many properties around the valley titled Broadstone. The development at McDowell and Alvarado is going to be called Broadstone Arts District

It appears that is a lot of neighborhood resistance to the current design of the proposed View 32 apartment complex on 32nd and Shea. It's interesting that a proposal like this popped up in a neighborhood outside of the typical areas. I know the city is trying to make 32nd Street a little more suitable for current traffic volumes by removing lanes between Shea and Bell. Traffic volumes on 32nd dropped by more than 50 percent after the 51 was extended north of Shea. If this proposal goes through, it would interesting to see if other multi unit developers follow and the character of 32nd Street can be turned around. I personally would be very, very glad to start seeing some gentrification in the city outside of downtown and midtown. It seems like there are so many neighborhoods all over Phoenix that are just full off blight. I would hate to see the city fall into a Detroit-like decline.

Thanks PPXflyer, for the actual name and explanation.

Detroit like decline?

Let me know when the city shrinks multiple years in a row, then we can be concerned.
