WINDSOR, Ontario |

Windsor is the oldest site of continuous European settlement in Ontario. French agricultural settlements were established in 1748 and the first significant migration of English speaking people was in 1797. The arrival of the Ford Motor Company in 1904 sparked rapid growth and to this day, the auto industry remains the most important economic sector with Chrysler being the city's largest employer. Known as the City of Roses, Windsor's 25 km of waterfront along the Detroit River is lined with parks, gardens, trails, sculptures, and mansions. |
