Centrally located on the Niagara Peninsula on the Welland Canal, Welland is a city struggling to renew itself. Recent investment in a new city hall has been a positive for the downtown but there is still much to be done. The most notable feature in the downtown core is the lift bridge. No longer in service since the construction of the canal bypass, it remains a relic and a symbol of Welland's history. |
