Home to major rail lines, two freeways, a bulk shipping port, and a border crossing, Prescott
has a long history as an important crossroads. The town is home to historic Fort Wellington, originally built during the War of 1812
to protect the St. Lawrence River. In the summer the town hosts the Thousand Islands Shakespeare Festival.
