Pickering is a suburb that lacks a downtown but it does have a scenic waterfront at Frenchman's Bay. A sandbar with a beach protects the bay from the open waters of Lake Ontario,
and townhouses line the harbour. The area is dominated visually by the Pickering nuclear plant and a 117 metre tall wind turbine.
