Oshawa is the largest city in Durham Region and is the Canadian home of General Motors. The city has a gritty, industrial character and it retains its own identity even in the face of sprawl from greater Toronto. Downtown Oshawa has lots of low rent retail and is still fairly active. It has a large daytime population thanks to several large office buildings, and new residential construction is underway. The city is also planning to redevelop its harbour. |
