NORTH BUXTON, Ontario |
|
|
North Buxton played a key role in North American history since for many slaves, it was the last stop along the Underground Railroad. The former slaves formed their own settlement in the area and the town flourished throughout the late 1800s. There are several buildings in the town today dating back to that time. Following the U.S. Civil War, many residents moved back to the southern United States but the rich history of the town is well preserved in a museum. |
