Located halfway between Toronto and Ottawa, Napanee has in recent history probably been most associated with being the hometown to rock / punk-pop singer Avril Lavigne. The town was founded by Loyalists in the 18th century and contains much more history than the average MTV groupie would care to know. Downtown Napanee contains a large number of well preserved Italianate and Renaissance commercial buildings as well as a small classical revival town hall. |
