DETROIT, Michigan
Home of the big three American automakers, Detroit has a proud history but an uncertain future. Ironically, it was the invention of the automobile and increased mobility that allowed for the white flight from the inner city to the suburbs causing Detroit to enter into an extreme decline unparalleled to any major North American city. Vacant lots where houses once stood dot much of the inner city while architecturally beautiful skyscrapers sit empty in a city nearing bankruptcy. Will Detroit see a true renaissance? We can only hope.
