CORNWALL, Ontario |
|
|
Cornwall is an industrial city with a rich history as a shipping centre. The city has similarities to Oshawa in that it seems like it was expected to become much more important than it became. Much of the architecture downtown is unremarkable but the Pitt Street promenade has a decent amount of street life. A shipping canal ran alongside the St. Lawrence River until the 1950s when it was rendered obsolete by the St. Lawrence Seaway. The canal is now a popular riverfront park. |
