Bancroft is an old mining town that is now a tourism centre taking advantage of its location in the lake country south of Algonquin Park. Downtown buildings are clad mainly in stucco or wood siding. One of the most prominent buildings is the York River Tavern, a historic hotel that sits at the top of the main street and overlooks the rest of downtown. |
