Almonte is a beautiful town located on a series of rapids along the Mississippi River. In the 1860s, woollen mills were built in town and many of the old mill buildings remain. Parks, walkways and patios have sprung up along the river recently. Mill Street is lined with shops and well maintained stone buildings; one that stands out most is the Romanesque post office. |
