Now part of Ajax, the Village of Pickering was historically part of Pickering Township.
New boundaries were drawn up in 1974 when Durham Region was founded and Pickering Village found itself in the new Town of Ajax instead of
Pickering. New buildings in the village mimic the look of older ones, usually not very successfully. But a complex modeled on Medieval Tudor architecture
looks surprisingly authentic. |
