Reminds me of a white version of Dr. Vu's tower.

I know, I've posted the news in the proper thread earlier.
Pity that a solid 700 footer can be barely seen on the skyline. Oh well, at least it's a very classy filler.

Extell Files Permits to Demolish Six Midtown Buildings for a New Mega Development
By Ondel Hylton

Quote:
Yesterday, Gary Barnett’s Extell (the developer behind the Nordstrom Tower, One57, and the controversial 250 South Street, to name just a few) filed a string of demolition permits with the city’s Department of Buildings to raze six buildings along West 46th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The doomed four- and five-story structures are at 3 West 46th Street, 5 West 46th Street, 7 West 46th Street, 9 West 46th Street, 11 West 46th Street and 13 West 46th Street. And on Monday, The Real Deal reported that Barnett has secured ownership of two neighboring properties at 562 and 564 Fifth Avenue from Thor Equities and SL Green Realty. The prolific developer also owns 2 and 10 West 47th Street on the northern side of the block in the heart of the Diamond District.

2. CTBUH lists 432 Park Avenue as completed. It states the following:

Quote:
The CTBUH officially confirmed 432 Park Avenue’s completion date to be December 23, 2015, as this was when the first owners closed on their residences and the building met CTBUH’s final criteria for completion – that the building be at least partially occupiable.

3. http://www.ctbuh.org/News/GlobalTall...-US/view.aspx#!

World Reaches 100 Supertall Skyscrapers with Completion of 432 Park Avenue

There are now officially 100 supertall (300-plus-meter) skyscrapers in the world following the completion of 432 Park Avenue in New York City. The construction of supertall buildings has increased at an astounding rate in recent years, an indicator of the tremendous growth within the global tall building industry. Whereas the first 50 supertalls took 80 years to complete – between 1930 and 2010 – the total number of supertalls has doubled from 50 to 100 in just five years.

4. Shvo's 125 Greenwich is 91 stories: http://therealdeal.com/2016/01/15/sh...se-275-condos/

Quote:
Michael Shvo, Howard Lorber’s New Valley and Bizzi & Partners’ soaring condominium at 125 Greenwich Street will house 275 units – nearly 150 more than early renderings for the Financial District tower indicated. The Rafael Vinoly-designed tower will rise 91 stories with 275 condos spread over 306,312 square feet, according to an offering plan filed with the Attorney General’s office and reviewed by The Real Deal. Prices were not disclosed, but units will range in size from a 403-square-foot studio to a three-bedroom pad measuring 3,625 square feet. The top two floors will have two units each.

All in all good news gentlemen!

Totally forgot about 2WTC:

Statement from Larry A. Silverstein, Chairman, Silverstein Properties Inc.

Quote:
“While I am disappointed that 21st Century Fox and News Corp have elected to hold off on moving their headquarters, I am immensely grateful to the Murdochs and their talented team, as well as to the Bjarke Ingels Group and our partners at the Port Authority, for their inspired work over the past year.
“Make no mistake: it won’t be long before we find a great company to anchor 2 World Trade Center. Lower Manhattan has firmly established itself as the neighborhood of choice for the world’s most dynamic technology, advertising, media, financial and other creative businesses. Downtown’s momentum is palpable and unstoppable – more than 600 firms have moved to Downtown since 2005, leasing over 15 million square feet of space. We at Silverstein Properties remain 100 percent committed to successfully completing this historic rebuilding effort.”
The deal is off! Let's hope we'll get the old Foster design back.

Honestly I think the whole 2WTC ordeal is some of the best news yet. Foster's design is pretty old though, I'm worried they might mess it up with some new unwanted additions.

I doubt it. The BIG design is almost certainly here to stay. Frankly it's a better design.

As oddball as it is... If actually built it would be very interesting, and as much as we overuse the word "iconic" on this sight... Well, it would show up in countless photos, TV Shows and movies, instantly becoming one of the most recognizable buildings on the planet.

No it's not an actual proposal, just a vision. However, it is on an actual development site where a tall tower can rise.

With due respect, what on earth makes you say this?

The building was designed for Fox news only, and now that's over there's no real reason to keep it. It seems to me at least that it would be more expensive to build as well.

Also keep in mind that the foundation for Foster's tower has already been built and to demolish it would be very expensive and time consuming.

Therefore, reverting back to Foster's design and finding a tenant to anchor it seems to be most logical and efficient option moving forward.

Not true. Silverstein had already scrapped the previous 2 WTC design before Fox was interested in the space.

Silverstein worked with BIG to produce a more marketable building, so I assume the new building will stay. Or, at the least, something very similar would be built, with BIG the likely architect.

I don't know what you mean by "more expensive"? The previous design wasn't attractive to tenants, and the new design was attractive to tenants. Obviously the new design makes more economic sense, at least from Silverstein's perspective.

Sutton Place Tower (900') could become a supertall ...

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article...pertall-towers

The little loophole helping developers build higher supertall towers

Developers are constructing skyscrapers on stilts

By Daniel Geiger

Quote:
Like a long list of other developers in recent years, Beninati wants to raise the tallest tower he can--a spire that could reach as high as 1,000 feet.
Quote:
To raise his Sutton Place building's height, Beninati said his mechanical floors will be 24 feet high, far taller than mechanical spaces in projects built even just a few years ago, and about double the height of most residential floors in the property. Doing that, he estimates, will add 100 or more feet to his project--allowing more of his units to clear that 700-foot threshold.
