Of course the most towers won't actually look ugly and grey like that.

The whole is definitely better than the sum of its parts.

No it doesn't.
It means that, in the field of urban planning, 1+1=3
Or, 1+1+1=5
Or, ...

^The skyline may share some similarities, based on visual impact, but there are strong indications that at ground level, this will be NOTHING like Manhattan.

Now I going to write something down that wont be appreciated imho :

Despite all those magnificent towers , Dubai lacks a total masterplan for its towers, it could have been so much better when they were built on another spot in the city like Al Jaddaf for instance.

Dubai is turning into one hell of a city, some of it is crazy and unbeliveable but still amazing nonetheless.

Some more news:

8 plots with no height restrictions will be auctioned on the 11th of december. The towers to be built will be mixed-use and are in the business bay development. These are the ONLY plots with unlimited height in this project (which I think is one of the best planned in Dubai). If you don't know already business bay will have about 2 to 3 hundred buildings. Around 65% will be capped off at 20 to 30F, and the rest will be taller, probably to 60, 70F or so. The tallest released so far is 60F and it doesn't occupy one of the 8 unlimited height ones so expect some talls to come from business bay in the future.

The designs will probably not be out for ages though. I think 3 or 4 of the towers built on those plots will be 300m+

New project released today. It'll be right next to emirates towers, fill some gaps and get rid of some crappy old buildings. The thing is, the biggest tower you see here looks kind of like the old United Tower and it's also in the exact same place so maybe...

UNITED TOWER COULD BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^ Exactly. I can't believe though that I got only one reply in almost a week after posting this. This tower's one of the best if not the best tower released in Dubai so far.

Anyway, there might be a 320m 4 seasons hotel in festival city. No renders yet though.
