Maybe, but he should have gotten more for a #1 goalie with his stats. Also if he waited closer to the season teams may get desperate for a goalie.

Was it Gillis who signed Luongo to that contract?

Vincent LeCavalier signs a $22.5 mil 5yr contract with the Philadelphia Flyers. I thought he would have been a good fit in Montreal with all the young talent in that organization he would have been a good leader for them.

Galchenyuk and Eller are going to be our #1 and 2 centers in the future. If Lecavalier wanted 5 years, then no thank you!

I would have taken him for 2 years (to play center until Chucky is ready for #1C duties) but not more. It's not a big deal anyway because Plekanec is a better 2 way player than him.

A backup goalie for a first round pick is a pretty good trade. Luongo is still a very good goalie, he is just shaky when the pressure is on. Vancouver did what they had to do, even if it's not what the fans wanted.

Surprised about Lecavalier, but not too much. Great pickup for Philly!

Sounds like Dallas and Boston are considering swapping Seguin and Eriksson. Seems pretty dumb for Boston to move Seguin, not sure why that would happen, maybe money?

Saw today that Calgary has 17m of cap space. Would've thought they'd be in contention for Lacavelier. Either way, with that much room and few big names left they'd better start buying.

We will see what happens tomorrow! Feaster will make or break this teams future (at least the next 5-ish years worth).

The Boston Bruins and Dallas Stars have completed a blockbuster seven-player trade that will see two prominent players swap jerseys.

The Bruins traded Tyler Seguin, Rich Peverley and Ryan Button to the Stars in exchange for Loui Eriksson, Joe Morrow, Reilly Smith, and Matt Fraser.

Looks like perhaps the Oilers made the right call on the whole 'Taylor or Tyler' saga a few drafts ago. It will be even better now that we get to see the 2 go head to head more often.

This has been one hell of a start to the off-season. I honestly would have picked 99% of players in the league to get traded before Seguin, but either way, a Seguin / Benn line is going to be filfthy a couple years from now.

Many Jets fans seem to be happier with being the sole Canadian representation in our division. Its tough to explain. We get Chicago and Minnesota in, which will be big rivals especially Minny. I don't think we could create as strong a rivalry with any other Canadian team as we could with the Wild. Also looking forward to seeing the Preds face the Jets more often.

Besides, it gives other Canadian NHL teams another Canadian franchise to cheer for that isn't their direct rival. Its been pointed out that the Jets are the second favourites for other Canadian NHL non-Jets fanbases (whether or not thats true, I have no idea) and we still get to play every other team in the league any ways. Its cool.

Its going to be bitter not seeing the eastern teams as much though. Was fun matching up often against the Habs or Leafs, seeing the Rangers or Flyers and those other big franchises often. I enjoy the eastern division more, personally.

The biggest thing is the time zone's are finally corrected. Sucks for Jets fans in Alberta though. 6pm is not ideal time for watching hockey games haha.

Why Bergevin, why?

We need to get B-I-G-G-E-R not S-M-A-L-L-E-R.

I would be OK with this if it means kicking Desharnais out which won't happen.

We should go after Gerbe now.

I think this is a good signing for Montreal, do agree about the size though.

Vancouver buys out relatively useless Ballard who has already signed in Minnesota. This gives the 'nucks 4.6M in cap room. Excellent move.

Free agency starts in 2 hours!

Flames should sign Horton, would be a great pickup for a team trying to get bigger.

Heard on the radio that with the 5.5 m cap space availalbe from buying out Grabovski (and hopefully Bozak) That the Leafs might look at picking up Weiss. I hope that's more than just a rumor.
