You are correct though, high psi concrete is most suitable for bridges. Though I assume that other buildings use 14,000 or higher concrete. But that is just a guess. Because 19,000 concrete was used in a building 27 years ago, that seems like a relatively safe assumption.

432 Park is an awe inspiring building. However I don't think it is setting any records in respect to concrete usage.
Let me rephrase my statement. I was under the impression that this was the 2nd tall building to use 14,000 concrete. I have known that different types of shorter buildings/bridges have used higher.

Two union square was built 27 years ago with stronger concrete and is 740 feet tall.

Is it even possible to know how many other buildings are built with high psi concrete? That's an honest question. Is everyone making public the type of concrete in use at their construction site?

My guess is that there is a bit of urban legend going on here. Where did the original claim come from and what was the evidence for it? 432 is an amazing building either way.

Edit: this chart is old but check out some of the high psi concrete buildings listed.

Now that i'm seeing it up against the other buildings and the city-scape I can't imagine that area without it!

Thanks for the link to that table. I've added it to my own list with some newer buildings. In particular, Trump Tower Chicago used 16000psi concrete.

That is a new angle not posted before. I remember reading that the 57th Street crane will rise to 900' before being taken down.
