The owners of this project is the University Lutheran Student Center. The existing building is owned by them and will be demolished to make room for the new tower. The ground floor will have a student center.
This article, which is from July, states that demolition is supposed to begin this fall. So it looks like this is on schedule.
There aren't any renderings attached, but this does talk about the old building. It's kind of a neat building actually.
Also, Rhode Partners has it listed on their website under "News" that this will start in the 3rd quarter of 2014.

Demolition Imminent: O’Neil Ford University Lutheran Center +
by Jason John Paul Haskins 24 July 2014 In Feature Articles, O'Neil Ford
Plans are in place to demolish the University Lutheran Center serving the University of Texas at Austin this fall and replace it with high-rise student housing with a ground-level store-front Student Center. While the project is an opportunity to advance the center's ministry and satisfy students' needs, the destruction means the loss of a unique structure with a strong ministerial character and a place significant to Texas heritage.
