Have we got a home for you!

Memorial mansion listed for record $43 million

But you better hurry...

Houston continues to see high demand for new homes, according to national report

And demand for new homes is growing in Houston, according to Metrostudy. The Bayou City saw an 11.9 percent increase in the number of new-home move-ins. New-home move-ins jumped from 6,072 in the second quarter of 2013 to 6,797 in the second quarter of 2014.

In fact, demand for new homes is rising in major cities across Texas, according to Metrostudy. More warehouses for NW:

Last building in popular NW Houston industrial complex breaks ground

Another industrial building is going up at Sam Houston Business Park (from BisNow):

"Levey Group has brought Sam Houston Business Park to 95% leased, and it’s moving forward on development of Building 4. (When one door closes, another door begins construction.) Levey prez David Ebro tells us Flotek Industries signed a 15-year lease for 50k SF in the park (its subsidiary CESI Chemical will occupy the space) and will build out a state-of-the-art lab research facility. That takes up the majority of Building 1, and 11k SF remains available to lease in the park’s existing buildings. CBRE’s Joseph Smith repped Levey, and Cushman & Wakefield’s Hugh Herman and Matt Trozzo repped Flotek. David says Levey is designing a new 56k SF facility, rendered above, to be built on the remaining 3.9 acres."

Also more apartments for the Woodlands:

New details emerge for multifamily projects near The Woodlands

And schools:

Over $1B of Houston construction projects could be up for grabs

Where have all the farms gone?

Farms fading fast amid Montgomery County's boom

Well, this is an absolute shocker. The Westbury Centerette, a boarded-up strip center that once had an original Baskin Robbins (and a pad site for an original Jack in the Box) back in the '60s, but has sat derelict for almost a decade, is getting bulldozed to make way for LA Fitness. Now the watch is on for Westbury Square...

LA Fitness Will Flex Excavator, Scrap Westbury Centerette at Chimney Rock and Bellfort

And in another sign real estate developers will snap up any property that becomes available, the old Best Western/Roman Inn/Greenway Inn & Suites is now a pile of rubble being offered to the first taker. Rumor has it another retail strip is coming to the south side of the Southwest Freeway.

Goodbye Greenway Inn & Suites, hello shopping center

This looks like it's slated to become one of the money shots. Taken from the new hill within the Hermann Park Centennial Gardens. 10/17 by Triton at HAIF:

An interesting read from HBJ about Houston's diversity and its influence on the community. I was not aware Houston's population of foreign-born newcomers had increased 500,000 in 13 years; that's faster than overall population growth in most cities.

Realtors, homebuilders adapting to Houston’s diverse suburbs

The Surge is working. From Swamplot:

A New Sign of Future Development Appears on Heights Hike-and-Bike Trail Site

Old site; new developer?

And here's something a bit larger, being planned out west of the Grand Parkway:

Katy-area residential community being planned

And the city creeps farther and farther northward along I-69...

Once rural area north of town attracts development
