Don't think so but next weekend the Warehouse will be transformed into a large EDM event space. I will be in attendance both nights. Really excited! Will be reminiscent of the oldskool warehouse raves of the 80s and early to mid 90s.

This one will get its own thread once we know the height. The site plan for 321 W. 6th. was filed today. It's a mixed use (office & residential) high-rise.

That works for people with only a casual interest in downtown development. But they should use this site for a complete list of projects and accurate project status.

Say good bye to the Gas Pipe. It's on the site of a proposed five-story office building with retail. A CVC prevents a high-rise from going up.

Site plan:
https://abc.austintexas.gov/web/perm...ertyrsn=166400

From the site plan:

What would need to be done to abolish the concept of CVC?

The state would have to get rid of them.

Not gonna happen. About 10 years ago, a minor update to some of the City CVCs to adjust for locations where the Capitol isn't even visible was killed off by a state-wide public outcry.

Just worth pointing out how hopping that part of town is. Within a couple of blocks you have:

6X
Indeed Tower/Block 71
Masonic Lodge
Hanover
And now 321 6th.

Crazy activity!

I'm constantly amazed at people not embracing Austin and what makes it unique. Constantly disappointed by the desire to have a generic environment. Even the CVCs.... while overdone, they are creating a really interesting skyline and building shapes. AND as important as seeing the Capitol..... they create light corridors thru the city that are emerging. Ways to see the hills.... and not just a large bank of buildings. PLUS>.... we see more building details from a distance that one does as a city gets more dense. It think its an unexpected benefit. Yeah... some are overdone.... oh well.

Agreed. It's just a shame that people get so emotional over the CVCs and can't engage in a legitimate, rational conversation about the CVCs that make little sense.

Yeah, I'm not one for getting rid of the capitol view corridors. If it weren't for them, I doubt 6 X Guadalupe would have been anywhere near as tall as it is since the view corridor through that lot forced the tower to be slender and taller. Also, we can have street level interaction and density without height, and those corridors will actually encourage some taller towers on their edge for the reason I stated about 6 X, Guadalupe, plus it makes sense to want a substantial tower along a view corridor since you're pretty much guaranteed unobstructed views as long as the corridors exist.

Besides all of that, I value being able to see the capitol dome even if I don't agree politically with what happens under it.
