They had a constant line of cement trucks waiting to feed the pit beginning Friday night. So it looks like the mat pour got done as planned.

Both cranes are up now, and a second mat pour is planned for the 15th & 16th.

Nice updates today Clayton. It's great to see this one going vertical.

In my opinion this building will change Austin forever. I really think this will be one of the most striking buildings in Texas.

Thank you ATX for posting something, anything, today. I had to resort to re-reading posts out of boredom. Of course the ones I read were all my old posts...man I stray off topic a lot...just like right now... But to reel it back in, I hope clubtokyo is right because I want to like this more than I do. This is one I need to see after its built to pass a fair judgement.

Slow days are when I go back and look at people's overreactions in old project threads.

This is too much fun! Really opens our eyes to how out of place the Austin Energy substation is (1:00 into the video). AE may always fight to not move it but one day we'll have a mayor and/or a District 9 Council Member who understands the value of walkability and urbanism and we'll see this site redevelop and truly pull the area together.

Hopefully by then we get Athena Health Care out of Seaholm and turn it into the retail mecca it was envisioned to be.

You're 100% right. It's such an ugly thing. And those lines just slice right through what's turning out to be a really gorgeous creekway view. This is one of those prime parcels -- like the Hobby building, or the state garage -- that's just waiting for someone in gov (in this case city gov) to do the right thing.

You can bet that if I was a well-heeled investor-builder type, I'd be sniffing around this deal from all angles, pressing all corners to see what side has any give.

There is something about below ground construction that makes me impatient. From excavation to foundation to the sub-floors everything seems to be in slow motion. I know a lot happens before the building breaks from ground level. I just want to see this building start to take form. The angles of the metal and how the glass will be attached. How this buildings form anchors this end of the riverfront. What will the night bring to the lighting if the "sail". I am a patient person. Its not like this is the only build in town!

Construction Gods bring forth this tower.

You know what I sometimes always say....the longer the journey, the bigger the reward, the deeper the hole the longer it takes just to reach ground level. I'm not getting any younger so my impatience stems from my desire to be alive when this and all the other projects are at least topped out, because despite my lifelong obsession with skylines, after I'm gone, I might not give a shit.

They're starting to put up rebar. That's a good sign I bet we'll be above ground in the next few months
