I like it. There are certain angles of it where it looks really slabby and too simplistic, but most of the time I'm good with it. And hey, the Homewood Suites almost looks cool there.

Saw the Austin skyline for the first time since about 2015 this weekend, but only passing by on 35. This is a huge presence when heading North.

To be fair, both of those are at least a year old. They’ve righted a lot of the ship since then.

Also to be fair? You posted a link to a poor review but when you look at the overall rating of reviews, there are many more high reviews than low reviews.

Would you recommend this hotel to someone?

I recommend a list of hotels that I know have good service to friends or family visiting and yes I include the Fairmont nowadays. I didn't at first but they have improved and I've heard from people who have stayed there over the last few months who've had a good experience.

The Great Pumpkin!!! The fairmont has a giant pumpkin lit up on it. It's about 20 stories high. It looks great. Happy Halloween!

Here's a pic. Looks like they finally trained someone on how to use the lights!

That's cool and all but the Jack-o-lantern is not apart of the rooftop lighting feature as far as what I understand about it. The spire lighting has not been used once since opening and they still can't do full moving patterns on the crown. My guess is they have LED's at the base of each of those windows. Wonder how bright that makes the rooms at night while guest's are staying there because surely they can't have that many rooms empty especially now. Also wonder if they tell guests in the other rooms not to open their curtains??

Someone on Reddit claimed to be employed by the company who helped set this up. Said it's the normal lights for the yellow/orange part, then the green was LEDs. All of the rooms were blocked off, but because a large convention conference checked out yesterday, and F1 people haven't quite arrived yet, they have plenty of space. He said something like there being 700 rooms total, and needing to block off 100 for this.

Haha wow the orange wasn't even LEDs, lol. Hey it worked though.

Funny how there was no pumpkin on Halloween night itself.... at least be on the holiday. Just make all the guests participate lol

I like how they're doing something cool with the otherwise huge glass wall we have downtown. The Palacio del Rio in SA does similar lighting tricks with their balconies every year. Like a Christmas tree during XMAS or "GO SPURS GO"

Finally they had a moving colorful pattern tonight. Like waves of colors across the top. Now they just need to use the lights on the spire!

In case anyone's not seen them yet, they had some lights on the screen that were changing colors.
