^ So why are you removing the logo? You like the brand and their corporate responsibility, but don't want to outwardly show support because...? Portland hipsters would look down on you for wearing patagonia?

Because I can get the intended use out of a quality product while removing any association with finance toolbags or the judging eyes of fellow forumers, evidently.

^ Try switching to Uniqlo. Much cheaper alternative and their down vests don't have any visible logos. Unless you're doing serious outdoor backpacking and mountaineering, Patagonia or Arc'teryx level clothing is wasted as urban wear.

When a logo becomes a status symbol, I want nothing to do with it.

It's a status symbol only if you want it to be. If you like the product and the corporate culture behind it, don't see why you should abandon it because some bros wear it or care what others think.

I take the logos off for this reason. They’re a good company and I’ve had them replace entire garments after a year of wear. They recycle old clothes. They actively discourage people from buying their products if they don’t need them. They support #altnationalparkservice. But I can support and enjoy their products without being a walking advertisement. Arc’teryx is also a great company, but I can’t afford $400 for a fanny pack.
