The north shaft is starting the 9th floor and south shaft at 8th floor. Steel is now up to 5th floor on South side. Apparently shafts and steel frame to be completed before end of June.
Most beautiful in Saint John? Let's slow down a bit here, we have a laundry list of amazing buildings around the city and this one is yet to be completed. I agree they will spare little expense on the finishes and materials, as well as certain building technologies, but I want to see how it interacts with the streetscape and neighbourhood before we hand any crowns over.

It will be the most beautiful high-rise in Saint John, that's for sure.

The existing ones aren't exactly Architectural Digest material.

That looks like very high-quality stone. I was worried about the materials; the renderings left the potential for crappy, postmodern forgettable crap. I'll definitely have to check on construction next time I'm in town.

apparently its Lime Stone - which means they aren't sparing any expense on the facade of the building. Better than coloured concrete

Steel looks to be completed in the back to level 6, and the elevator/stairs are up to 10.

I looked at it carefully today . It appears to me the north shaft started the 9th floor and south shaft sits at 8 floors. The steel is up 5 floors - and above that the shaft has 4 elevator openings so that makes it 8 floors (the 5th floor would have its own elevator opening). The first floor is taller than the others and in the back there is a mezzanine floor making it look like 6 stories of steel. So it's going to get a lot taller. Then again I may be completely wrong

The building is rising above the skyline quite nicely now.

This building would be so much nicer if they added four more stories.

The JDI building added extra floors a few years after it was completed, so you never know.

I agree, it might end up looking a little squat right now, we'll see. The middle concrete shaft is on floor 10 out of 11, so the full height it almost on display (minus whatever mechanical/service penthouse they have to put atop the roof that doesn't count as a "floor" per se).

I'm pretty sure it's on level 9. The mezzanine floor along princess street makes it deceiving. It's officially 5 stories of steel up and if you count the elevator door openings from there it's level 9.
It's 11 full stories plus mechanical penthouse so the height should fall just short of the boom on the crane

According to the Heartage Board, Irving is requesting approval to build a 4 level parking garage on the surface parking lot behind the old court house
