SirusXM here, I can't remember the last time I purposely listened to over the air radio. Its so commercial. Like TV. I pay to not listen to commercials on radio and I record all TV shows and FF through the commercials on TV. Ads do almost nothing for me. If I like a product I will buy it. I don't need to have a baby tell me too, some are funny but almost none are informative to make me want a product.

Speaking of commercials, and yes, they're the reason we haven't had cable or satellite tv for a decade, this has to be one of the funniest commercials in years.

The latest car I'm building is not going to have a radio at all, only an iPod jack. The factory AM doesn't work and I didn't want to cut up the dash to put a modern stereo in.

I found a small amp, about the size of a cigarette pack, that I can hide under the dash and run the iPod wire under the carpet with the plug coming out between the seats.

I have over 25,000 songs in my iTunes library so I don't think I'll miss the radio other than Saturday night, Twine Time.

I happened to see that commercial for the first time not too long before you posted that. I haven't laughed at a commercial that much in a while. Let's hide behind the chainsaws!

I agree guys, that is one of the funniest commercials I've seen in a while, certainly Geico's best to date.
About commercials on the radio which I also hate...I seem to have developed a knack for turning the radio off at the beginning of the commercial break and turning the radio back on just as the intro music to the show I'm listening to is back on. Commercials on the radio is the price you pay for free entertainment.

I have Sirius/XM and HD radio as well in my car and I use Tunin radio app to listen to stations around the world. I also have a considerable music library. It's not surprising that many here also do the same.

Despite that and despite just about everyone I know rarely listens to F.M. a recent report came out that shows that the majority of the population still listens to terrestrial radio. I don't like radio commercials anymore than the next person but it continues to be an important advertising tool.

It's also a little bit of a side interest kinda like urban development and highrises so I like to follow what happens in the Austin market. What's on the radio in our market does make an impression especially with visitors about the city.

I just hope we get a Dance formatted station back on F.M. the sooner, the better.

Jim Carrey did a parody on SNL of Lincoln's Matthew McConaughey commercial tonight. It was pretty cool seeing Austin's skyline featured in an SNL skit.

EDIT: here it is.

Ellen did a parody of one of the West Texas ones that was even funnier IMO - especially if you like bad puns, and South Park did one too. That ad campaign is getting a lot of attention.

Does anybody have any idea where the Irish consulate is going? the DFA website is no help.

It also gives an October opening which I'm not sure they're gonna make.

Look for previously vacant buildings nextdoor to a bar.
