Someone actually did post a photo on one of these threads a few weeks ago with a flatbed that crashed or flipped and it was carrying crane parts.

I'm not sure if it was THE truck with THE crane parts, but I did pass by a truck that was flipped over on Pipeline and North Perimeter last month. If that was it, then holy boats!

Yes, it is a little sad that in 2018 we're excited that a building of 465 feet, which will be our tallest, is going up only now in a city of our size. It's hard to believe that in 1970, Winnipeg had the tallest building (Richardson) in all of western Canada.

For a city our size I don't think we're in bad shape. Ottawa, Quebec and Hamilton each only have one building over 400ft/120m. Not everybody can be Calgary or Edmonton

I find this comment interesting because so many people seem to be in love with the place. I am not one of them..although they do have a nice skyline there.

Calgary is good if you like skiing and mountains. It also comes with many benefits associated with larger cities including better connectivity by air etc. I spent several summers in Calgary and I can say it felt bleak and suburban. The best parts of those summers involved lake louise or banff or the outdoors. Not the greatest city if your interests are not strongly tied to outdoorsy stuff. Winnipeg's neighborhoods especially in the core feel much more mature.

Yeah, Calgary just feels sterile and lifeless to me. It's downtown (which is pretty good) and new suburbs, there's no in between. Not for me – we have lots of great outdoor stuff to do, aside from mountains.

Calgary has the best bike path system I've ever been on. You can cycle the entire length of the Bow River through the city on a dedicated pathway with very few at grade crossings at major roads. A very scenic ride too.

one thing calgary does is treat their rivers way better than we do... way more bike trails and access points.

There is a ton of work afoot that does not require a tower crane. AFter all, the 330 portion will start before the tower.

But it IS nice to see that core rise!!!!
