Graham or pcl. Mhm. I've worked for both and their both good, but it doesn't mean it's always the contractors fault, you can have a really bad superintendent and lots of issues or problems that were not accounted for before that are now problems. Also it's not capital pointe, that is just the project name. ITC from Edmonton is the main contractor, look me up they have done tons of highrise in Alberta and B.C. PCL and Graham have been well behind on jobs before and there are other companies out there who can be faster, say for instance putting up a large concrete structure, Pagnotta and Newway both very fast formwork and concrete companies from the west. It also depends on your crew and how good your guys are. So many factors can contribute. This excavation is very slow yes but it not just one thing it's multiple. Pagnotta industries is the chosen contractor by ITC to build the structure. And their very anxious right now as they were suppose to be doing the raft slab in August.

What I don't understand is the piling rig is leaving site and coming back a few days later?! Something stinks on this project.

You are correct that it is at a standstill but it has nothing to do with the water. They have stalled for the past 6 weeks or so in my estimation. Anyone know when their construction permit expires because they are not making good progress at all..

They were installing walers on the North side within the last few weeks, no?

I drove by the site yesterday and nothing but crickets. Even if there was water in the hole it could be easily addressed with pumps. This project appears to be at a standstill. This is not a good sign.

Today, via the construction camera, was the first day in a long time that I saw the excavator actually working. Unfortunately there has not been any material removed from the site.

It amazes me that they are willing to shut down the site for almost a month to wait for it to dry out instead of using pumps and crushed aggregate to create a working area just like was is done on almost every other construction site.

^Heaven forbid they actually hit any date at any point. They are nowhere close to having the hole finished. Given the pace so far I'm still estimating June 2017 at the earliest.

Apparently they have been pumping out the water for the last two weeks according to their twitter updates today. Also have a few short vids and pics on it:

This is hilarious, been pumping water for two weeks? Really? We haven't had that much rain. It is supposed to rain again this weekend, so will they be pumping water for another two weeks? These guys are full of it, it is one stall tactic after another.

This pumping of water. Is it strictly from rain or are they deep enough yet for groundwater issues? And they don't need to be very deep to get into groundwater. They should be pumping groundwater out of there almost non stop.

And where are they pumping the water? Onto the street? (Sorry having issues playing videos on the crap IE Explorer browser). the City should have some type of protocol to ensure cleanliness of the water and which sewer its going into. So you don't plug the sewers or overwhelm their capacity.
