the transparency of the glass is apparent in the sun

the Weill Neuroscience building also has made progress

on Fourth St, its fencing has also come down

work on the Bayfront Park across from Chase Center doesn't appear to have resumed:

Old Navy is moving out of Mission Bay and moving back in with mom and dad. They were one of the pioneers in the redevelopment of Mission Bay.

Uber stock traded near the flat line after-hours Wednesday, after the ride-sharing and food-delivery company posted mixed results for the fourth quarter, with overall revenue falling shy of Street expectations.

For the quarter, Uber Technologies (ticker: Uber) had revenue of $3.2 billion, down 16% from a year ago, up 13% from the September quarter, and below the Street consensus at $3.58 billion. Bookings were $17.1 billion, down 5% from a year ago, up 16% sequentially, and a little below Street consensus at $17.25 billion.

On an adjusted Ebitda (earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) basis, the company lost $454 million, which was narrower than the Street consensus forecast for a loss of $507 million. Uber lost 54 cents a share in the quarter, a penny better than the consensus forecast of a loss of 55 cents.

the China Basin Building across the water is also getting a makeover of some kind

the ground-floor business(es?) and residents have access to their doors on that side

the UCSF Psychiatry Center in Dogpatch

I guess I will throw this one in here too, this is 88 Arkansas (at 17th) in Potrero Flats, which had been a very tidy excavated hole for over a year before it finally got going

the plaza area between and behind the Uber buildings has opened. here seen from near the (soon-to-be-ex) Old Navy building, so looking at the 'back'

as can sort of be seen from the previous photo, the thru-passage is a continuation of Pierpoint Lane, the walkway that extends back to Terry Francois Blvd (the 'Embarcadero' of MB) between Old Navy and its neighbor building. (though this is still looking the other way, west, toward Third St)

in the rear area is a greenspace that actually replaces one put in maybe ten years ago, with a style that matches the overall lane. here we are on a raised ramp walkway that leads to an upper-floor rear entrance to Uber, looking back at the Old Navy building through the greenspace. an aside: as WildCowboy alluded to, I certainly remember when that Old Navy building was the only new thing (plus one block of the Commons) on the east side of Third St, for years in the early 2000s while SF recovered from the dot-com bust, a little lonely island of development.

I guess the ramps are needed because the ground floor in the back is blocked off by a fenced-in children's play area, and assume the inside is also childcare

whimsical art is scattered about...

looking back from almost the Third St side

as I got closer to Third St, so, in the narrower part of the lane between the two buildings, I noticed a definite wind-tunnel effect. I hope that is not a constant thing

^^All that open space looks as if it needs a transplant of homeless people and their tents from UN Plaza or somewhere with a surplus.

Honest question: is that supposed to be a joke? Otherwise, of what substance is that comment?

I suppose one could say it was an attempt at being... witty.

Yes, it's sarcasm of course but with a point. I don't understand why these nice enticing parts of the city don't entice even the homeless and their tents. Why don't they too take advantage of the city's expansion and move out of the older parts of town to the new horizons? It's a serious question but if it doesn't interest you, so be it. Maybe it's simply that the city continues to put all the services in the Tenderloin and a few other spots to a lesser extent.

Some people just have broken brains when it comes to SF. Can't think about it for two seconds without ranting about the homeless.

I doubt you live there, newby. If you did, it would preoccupy you as well. It's an inescapable issue for all San Franciscans no matter how you feel about it. Anyway, my comment was no "rant". This isn't the place to "rant" on the subject but it is the place to comment on how different their absence make the areas photographed look than older parts of town and to wonder about the difference.

besides your observation about services, I think other parts of the 'answer' are:

- the homeless in the area tend to stay closer to the train station, I think because of the public restroom. (they used also to be over on Seventh and some of the side streets in Showplace Square before that area got activated with new development)

- at least some of MB has a neighborhood patrol that shoos people away from some public areas at night (I have been told I need to leave some areas before)

Kilroy is selling off The Exchange for a tidy profit, despite the uncertainty of work-from-home going forward. Fully leased to Dropbox, but they put a third of the space up for sublease last summer.

our very own Andrew Nelson at SFYimby with more renderings, this time of block 9A, way out at the eastern end of the block that also contains the public safety building just south of Mission Rock

Quote:
New building permits have been filed for an eight-story 100% affordable housing development with priority from the Mayor’s office at 400 China Basin Street in Mission Bay, San Francisco. ...

The eight-story building will yield 180,640 square feet to offer 148 affordable condominium units. There will be 50 one-bedroom units, 63 two-bedroom units, and 35 three-bedroom units for residents earning between 75% and 105% of the Area Median Income.

... Parking on-site will hold 34 vehicles and 76 bicycles.

Construction is expected to begin in May of 2022, with completion by April of 2024. ... The project is immediately beside Block 9, where crews broke ground in November last year.
that will leave two housing parcels left to develop in MB: block 12W in the northwest corner next to the traffic circle, and block 4E on Third St.
