The third pic with the sunlight and the victorian houses is my favorite of the bunch. Overall a great thread!

Portland does seem to have a lot of character and seems to be interesting wherever you look. I like the mix of clear skies and gloomy/wet pics.

Awesome! We definitely don't see enough of Portland on this thread. It's been too long since I made a trip down there.

Some say yes and some say no. You saw how empty the stadium was...that's the naysayers argument. The pros say Portland isn't a 'minor league' town and would support a major league team. I'm not sure. The stadium is cool, mainly due to it's location, but is too small for MLB.

An semi-interesting fact on this subject is that the owner of both the Beavers(minor league baseball) and Timbers(minor league soccer) teams that play at that stadium is Henry Merritt Paulson III...goes by Merritt...the son of the US Secretary of the Treasury, Henry Merritt Paulson Jr.

I eat here about once a week... since I only live about 8 blocks from it.

Paulson (the owner) has actually proposed buying one of the MLS expansion teams and converting the stadium into a soccer stadium, while building a new baseball stadium somewhere on the Eastside (maybe Lents, near the new MAX station). The Timbers Army seems to believe this is Soccer City, USA.

they're called "Benson Bubblers", named after the rich guy who had them installed many decades back. Near the beginning of the film "Drugstore Cowboy" Matt Dillion takes a sip from on in the NW district right before he robs a pharmacy. I like them cause they look cool and run in winter. Although people (normally homeless) like to put their finger on one so the other spigots get higher so they can fill their water bottles. Good thing I'm not afraid of germs.

neat thread. I think F80 has better optical zoom than I do (I think my cam is 4x, though not sure). I recognized his vantage points but can never get as close or clear as his pics of Mt Hood or the skyline from Tabor.

My god you're good. Do us a favor and use your camera some more. I also love the recurring 'Portland' graffiti and the overall layout of your pics.

Yeah.. I hate it when that happens. I myself am still recovering from one such incident last summer.

I really enjoyed Portland when I was there in April. I only wish I spent more time there.

Fantastic tour.
