How far is Antai College of Economics and Management (Jiao Tong University) from the Bund/Pudong? Walkable? I am staying near the former (conference early June).

Thanks! much appreciated. I think I will get to know that line very well, because I plan on spending as much time as possible at the Bund.

Gypsies? Nah. There are a number of scammers though. Do not go visit a tea house or art exhibit with these people. They WILL scam you out of money.
