Regal Cinema to get a major update

https://www.ajc.com/blog/radiotvtalk...aUyI7TyEcLVHI/

Quote:
Atlantic Station Regal Cinema, the busiest movie theater in Georgia, is planning a major renovation.

Five out of the 18 screens will soon have a VIP format, up from the current two. These theaters will feature BarcaLoungers and reserved seating. It will also have the first 4D theater in the state, an experiential type set up where if a car crashes, your seat will shake.

There will also be an updated marquee and a smoother way to enter the theater. The theater will remain open during renovations, which should be completed by the summer of 2020.

In the near future, Carzia added, Atlantic Station will also add eight new restaurants, three new flagship retailers, two new office buildings, three new hotels and a new residential building.

I hope you’re exaggerating.

I am not at all! $180. Tickets were $105 and then another $75 for refreshments and they didn’t even have any hot items available except popcorn or nachos. Was frustrating to say the least.

Back to the physical renovations, it appears Forever21 is filing for bankruptcy and closing stores....any news on the yet opened new store at AS?

Facebook is considering T3

along with other West Midtown projects for its Atlanta offices.

Quote:
Facebook Inc. has been in discussions to relocate its growing Atlanta office to Midtown’s Atlantic Station where it could occupy one of the largest wood-framed office buildings in the country.

The social media giant has focused on the Atlantic Station project after touring other developments in West Midtown over the past several months, sources familiar with the company’s space requirements said.

T3 West Midtown, a nearly completed seven-story building at 17th and State streets at Atlantic Station, is emerging as the front-runner to land Facebook’s office. Since it moved into West Midtown eight years ago, Facebook described the office as one of the fastest growing in its East Region.

In recent months, as Facebook inquired about possible locations for a new office in West Midtown, the company has sought up to 30,000 square feet, or enough space for 150 to 200 workers.

I was at Atlantic station yesterday, and saw Atlantic Yards is progressing (on third floor above the road deck- see foreground in photo below).

What is the project behind the fire station? I don't recall hearing about this one....

T3 looks really nice. I'm most excited about Atlantic Yards though.

Thank for the pics. Those LoopNet photos show how much Atlantic Station is changing. The Target surface parking lot now stands out like a sore thumb. Hopefully something can go on that lot and be connected directly in to a new pedestrian bridge leading over to Bishop street.

That parking lot probably won't be developed any time soon. It's zoned as industrial and isn't part of the Atlantic Station plan.

I can remember back when Atlantic Station was just getting underway and a 30-40 story residential tower was proposed for this block and the NIMBYs heavily opposed it. Basically said it was too tall and out of sync with the neighborhood.

Be careful for what you wish for, otherwise you might just get something far worse.

Like this butt-ugly silo, glass vending machine that will illuminate the nights sky and cast a halo over Home Park as a reminder of what could have been...

And now we rubber stamp anything except for projects next to Virginia highland.
