I think I need a few more angles before I can decide for sure.

Very true lol! I don't know why it seems so hard to designers to go with blacks/whites/grays. They are classic colors that don't go out of style.

I just realized that this design will be a twin for Calgary. It looks just like the Marlborough Inn!

Brilliant conclusion Sherlock! They both contain some white therefore they are twins.

The original pre-renovation Marborough Inn, which was the smaller of two Coast Plaza Hotel towers as they are now, and looked exactly like the Alt hotel. You may laugh, but it is actually true. I know you downtowners are proud of Alt, and I suppose it does add some rooms no matter how you cut it, but the reality of it is that 1970's Marlborough has already been there and done that. Arguably it was and is successful, so perhaps that's why the compliment of duplication.

I can see some similarities. They are both similar scale and massing and have white and black as the main colors. There are some difference though....the windows on Alt are much nicer, and even I think ALT will be stucco or EIFS, it'll be nicer than the old 70's stucco on the Marlbourough Inn.

I agree regarding the windows, and so you're right, the design has improved somewhat 40+ years later.

Interestingly, when you look at large sized banquet halls in the city, they are limited to:
- Hyatt
- Westin
- Palomino Room
- Red & White Club
- Coast Plaza (the Marlborough Inn)

And in fact the Coast Plaza is much better than the Red & White.

Too bad Alt won't have facilities like that.

If that's the one I'm thinking of that's straight concrete, no stucco there.
