Lol who says this? "I wish this design had balconies"... When have balconies ever made a design better (not including Aqua or MC where the design IS balconies)? Maybe you could say that recessed balconies would be better if they changed then to protruding balconies or basket balconies, but I've literally never seen a building where someone added balconies and been like "oh yeah, thumbs up, wayyy better"...

Exactly. Never were intended.

There is literally 0% chance any sort of normal balconies would make this building look any better. It would make it look worse, easily. This is turning out to be one of my favorite buildings in Chicago in recent years.

"Include". Nah, they were never there to begin with friend. Y'all are getting optical allusion disease here

Actually, I think at one point the design did include balconies. In some ways I'm glad this project took so long for that reason and the parking decreases.

Found an early on drawing on Curbed from 2016 that depicts balconies as well as a rendering that appears to have balconies on it

Yeah a vertical stretch of recessed balconies def would have been an improvement. All these walls of blue glass are so overbearing and often look warped and cheap. It helps to carve them up. I guess the pattern is supposed to do that but i still see saran wrap in many pictures. It's gonna look very dated very fast. It looks dated now tbh.

I stand corrected. Still think the rendering is showing a reflection of Skybridge though

In that rendering, yea. The ones I showed are from 2016 when it was first announced

Ok you can have another banal blue glass tower but all one needs to do is look at WPW and 200 N Michigan to observe how balconies done well improve the vertical expression of residential glass towers as well as mitigate the saran wrap problem.

It's really starting to stand out amongst the West Loop, and not just in height. That design is a beaut

^ Completely agree. It adds a great contrast to the area in terms of height, shape, and color.
