Indeed disappointing - still looks like a bus station.

Maybe this is just a placeholder until something better comes along.......

And in other disappointing news:

The GoodLife 4 Women location at the Sobeys Plaza on the corner of Main & Vaughan Harvey is apparently going to close. There is a for lease sign in the window. Presumably this is a consequence of the new GoodLife location in the Junction Village.

Wasn't it 4 locations withing a 3 KM stretch?, or has the location that took over the old Dooly's already shut it doors?

It seems they had attempted to over extend themselves with so many locations in such a short section.

The new Vaughan Harvey location appears to have supplanted both the Sobeys & Main Street locations.

I seem to recall that they said from the beginning that this would happen once the new shop opened. As always, never trust my memory but FWIW that's my recollection.

It makes zero sense to have two locations across a street from one another. This news is less disappointing and more bound to happen once the new location was announced.

One project downtown that has never really been mentioned on the forum is the recladding of the federal building on Main Street.

It really wasn't that long ago since this building was completely renovated, so I'm not sure what precipitated the recladding, but I presume an issue like leaking and moisture control.......

In any event, the new facade will be modern and should work nicely with the new arena across the street.

Some tidbits about the Hyatt Place Hotel from April's PAC agenda:

Site Plan (note gated parking lot to keep all those pesky events centre patrons at bay)

Landscaping

Main Street Elevation

Canada Street Elevation

Rendering as seen from the corner of Main & Highfield

Rendering as seen from further east on Main Street

New details about Tannery Place South at the Junction Urban Village, from April's PAC agenda

Site plan - lots of surface parking, but this must be for the ground floor commercial units. There is an underground parking garage.

East Elevation - confirming the building will be six floors.

West Elevation - almost identical, but you can see the entrance to the underground parking garage.

The PACS document contains floor plans, showing a variety of fairly spacious two and three bedroom configurations to choose from.

That looks really nice! Much better than the original!

From what I heard this is very close to what had happened, the old/last "Stucco" cladding was basically rotten.

There was an article in the paper yesterday regarding development at the junction. Something about the hotel being delayed but the condo project growing larger. I couldn’t read it due to paywall. Did anybody read it?

The hotel is on hold indefinitely because of the Hyatt opening next to the event centre. Meanwhile, they've added two more storeys to the apartment building.

Thanks. Did they give a start date on the condo?

So, eight stories or six?

I'm surprised they are going to be building additional condos considering they are only a couple of hundred meters from the Condo building on Vaughan Harvey that did so poorly they converted the units into rental apartments. 55 Queen seems to be doing well with sales but I imagine there's only so many people around here who'll consider a condo when the price of a detached home is usually the same, if not less when you add in the condo fees.

I was under the impression that Tannery Place was rental units?

I’m pretty sure you are right, I think it is rentals, which downtown could use. My belief is that they could build quite a few new apartments downtown and they would fill up. If the younger generation is given the opportunity to live downtown they will, especially with a spot as prominent as the tannery place. Grocery store across the street, walking distance to events, bars, restaurants.

Rental units, yes, and six stories

Moncton isn’t a condo city (yet) but nice rentals in the core should do well, especially with enclosed parking.

I won’t be too active this week - I’m at a conference out of the country
