Up she goes. The crane goes up another step to accept tower section number two, which is on the trolley beam. After the hydraulic climbing cylinder had been retracted, and the climbing foot had been repositioned, the crane rises. The next tower section will slide on into the climbing frame.

And up she went again, to install tower section number three. Each tower section is 13.2 feet tall (4.00 meters-per Favco-Favelle M760D Series II PDF, Type 763 tower sections). Tower section number four hangs from the hook.

With tower section number four in place on the trolley beam, tower section number five hangs on the hook for balance, waiting for the crane to rise again to place number four.

Thanks Marcatio for the heads up earlier and blow-by-blow with the correct terms for the parts, it is appreciated.

And thanks, NYGUY, for this heads-up - I forgot how close we are to that first "gap". I wonder if those first "empty" floors in each gap (i.e. 4 & 13) will be accessible as a patio for enjoyment by the occupants.

Sort of a "street level" sky deck.

It's a little hard to say, because plans have been revised a little since those drawings, and it doesn't line up exactly with what they have listed in the Schedule A.
Here's another look at it: there is a lounge on the 6th floor.

Then again here:

They are quite different ... I take it the one on top is newer?

Thinking how tall it'll be, seeing how it'll blend in the surrounding amidst other high rises, and seeing the pics above really pinch me...
Go higher and higher, yeah!!!

Not sure, but I believe if not the 4th floor, the first open level will be the 7th.

Will someone with concrete knowledge (no pun intended) please explain the curing process as regards to the current discoloration, as well as those lines that look kinda like cracks? Thanks!

Thanks NYCLuver for the street shots.. looking at this one, I almost wish they has taken down the townhouses on either side of the plot. Those two have been sufficiently remuddled over the years that they are now eyesores in this context.

Probably right. There's also going to be a pool area on the 9th floor.

Here is an image of the concrete curing process, in regards to two different forms of curing concrete. One is precast (pic on left) which is mildly steel reinforced, and the second is prestressed (pic on right). Prestressed concrete is achieved by stretching high strength steel cables (strands) through the concrete. This does not allow the concrete to bend, break, or brittle during curing. Precast concrete is unable to recover after/IF too much pressure is applied. If you're talking about discoloration in regards to the blue scaffolding and the brown stuff on it, that should be dust cause it can't be anything else at a construction site.

Thanks, TBA. What about the bluish/gray areas in the columns? Is that because the concrete hasn't completely dried yet?

No it's likely debris and dust which is expected at a site of this magnitude, and of course staining and weathering.

Just a thought: as they build, the lower concrete beams will cure while they pour fresh ones further up. That means that during construction the building will have a huge vertical gradient from stark white to grey. THAT'S something I can't wait to see!

This is a wild guess on my part, but the splotches of bluish discoloration seem to line up with the ribs on the forms; the metal forms could have acted as a heat sink, and caused different areas of the concrete to cure at different rates, since the rate that concrete cures at is affected by the temperature. The whiter areas are areas that were exposed to colder temperatures.

As for the cracks, I wouldn't worry about those ones two much because they are horizontal. As the tower is completed, the weight of the building will tend to force the cracks closed. As for resisting uplift caused by overturning moment from the wind, that is already intended to be carried by the rebar, not the concrete.

Does anyone know what is currently going on? From the cameras there appears to be no action whatsoever.

They may have been given the day off, it is a federal holiday (Presidents Day).
