EDMONTON | Kelly Ramsey| ~130m | 30 floors

An arson led to 2 historic buildings to be damaged beyond repair internally. This proposal will retain the facades and include a 4 storey podium/lobby/office/retail with a 12 storey hotel above and 14 storeys of office above that smack dab in the middle of Edmonton's CBD.

Initial low-rise proposal

New high-rise proposal (height increase since) set to begin construction in 2013.

It looks to me like they have dropped the facades in the highrise proposal.
Was this going to be a LEED silver building with the keeping the facade or is it still going to be LEED silver without?

EDMONTON - The fire-ravaged Kelly Ramsey Building downtown on Rice Howard Way is being gutted and two adjoining structures will be razed for a $250-million office and hotel project.

The south and east facades of the historic building on 101A Avenue will be dismantled and rebuilt as the base of a 29-storey tower, bricks and windows will be reused or reproduced, but most of the remainder will go, says a city report released Thursday.

To the west of the building, the developer wants to start tearing down the modern one-storey former Sony building on 101st Street on Monday. Two weeks later, it’s hoped the former home of Swedish Jewellers next door will be demolished.

Looks like service disconnections in the area. Sounds like we should see some demo/site work shortly.

Also a neat little video of this project.

Hooray! I am glad to see this move forward, as I thought it would run into a big snag after the fire.

Considering the size, site and developer this should be a good project for the downtown core... Overall, not my favourite design, but at least it will be somewhat hidden by all its surrounding neighbours... i.e. Manulife, Commerce, Scotia Place, TD Tower and even Phipps McKinnon...
