Great pics and I saw it from the Bay Bridge but couldn't get a shot as I was driving. First time to San Fran, wife, friend and me stayed on the edge of the Tenderloin. What an awesome gorgeous city!! I left my heart there too just as Tony Bennett did...

The tower is actually 56 habitable floors, with 2-1st floor mezzanines +5 basement floors.

On paper, in articles, they are 70 floors to make it appear as they are larger than Millennium, which they are. But Millennium claims to be 58 stories tall. If 181 said what they actually are, 56, then people might think Millennium is taller. I believe they skip floors at 13, and in between commercial/residential.

I was watching the news this morning and a CBS reporter was using the SF skyline from Treasure Island as a backdrop (on an unrelated issue), and I noticed 181 Fremont is already very prominent in the skyline from that angle. I love this tower.

^The views that LinkedIn employees will have over the next few years are certainly enviable - they will get to see so many buildings rise:

Salesforce Tower
181 Fremont
Park Tower
524 Howard
Parcel F
41 Tehama
Transbay Block 1 (Gang)
Transbay Block 8 (Koolhaas)
Transbay Block 9

Anyway, some miscellaneous shots taken this weekend:

Third level of glass now in place - I love how the cladding emphasizes and even exaggerates the structural elements, rather than trying to hide them.

The steel is almost here:

If you check the link to the Sneak Peek: Renderings of Luxe 181 Fremont, the West Coast's Tallest Residential Building article above there are more renderings, and a strange claim that 181 Fremont is "...72 stories, to be exact."

Got a good view from the Marriott View lounge today (will post later) and asked a worker when walking by. Currently at floor 39 and 460 feet.

181, Salesforce, and 41 Tehama's hole... if you look carefully, you can see that 181's current level of steel differs from those below. The cross beam is larger, and the columns terminate at the beam. This will form the bottom of the V-support braces that differentiate the office and residential portions of the tower.

So assuming the angle of the diagonal bracing is the same, it looks like we have another 1/3 to go! It's going to look quite tall from this perspective

One of the "newer" beams that will support the top third.

add to that the two towers at 50 first street once they get tall enough - approved by planning this week, construction starts in november!

also, if they're high enough on the other side, they'll get to watch the later stages of the mexican museum/aronson tower rise over jessie square.
