Article:Biscayne Beach Celebrates Topping Off Ceremony

Quote:
On May 10, Biscayne Beach celebrated a major construction milestone with a glamorous topping off ceremony. The highly anticipated 391-unit, 52-storey Miami beachfront condo development designed by WHLC Architecture for developers Two Roads Development and GTIS Partners has already sold approximately 99% of all available units. Hosted by general contractor Plaza Construction, the topping off ceremony was attended by the developers and architects responsible for the tower's construction, along with a crowd of press personnel and future residents.

With the topping off of Biscayne Beach at 550 feet | 167 meters this is Miami's 35th. skyscraper over 500 feet | 152 meters.

Miami now matches Houston in the US for completed or topped out skyscrapers in this category except the city of Houston is no longer building anything taller while Miami has another 15 skyscrapers over 500+ feet still under construction.

Brickell Heights put out a press release that they topped out but they are still rising a little, the first Paraiso tower isn't far off from topping out either. Does the 35 count SLS? A bunch more (Echo, Solitaire, SLS Lux, the rest of the Paraiso's, 1010 Brickell, Flatiron, 1000 Museum...etc) will are still U/C. The number should be in the low 40's by the end of the year.

There are 31 completed towers over 500+ feet | 152+ m in the city of Miami.

http://www.skyscrapercenter.com/inte...t=Show+Results

Another 19 towers are currently Under Construction with 4 of them having "topped off" within the last year leaving 15 towers still under official construction.
The 4 "topped off" towers are :

Biscayne Beach | 167.6m | 550 ft. | 51 stories | Residential

Rise (BCC) | 158.5m | 520 ft. | 45 stories | Residential

EAST Hotel (BCC) | 157.3m | 516 ft. | 41 stories | Serviced apartments / Hotel

Reach (BCC) | 153.3m | 503 ft. | 44 stories | Residential

The 35 count doesn't include the SLS Brickell since I'm using the CTBUH database but it should be included:

http://www.skyscrapercenter.com/inte...t=Show+Results

If you include the SLS Brickell the count would rise to 36 completed and/or topped off for Miami now with 14 towers over 500+ feet still under Construction.

I haven't heard if Brickell Heights topped off already? If so we have surpassed Houston already.

Biscayne Beach Gets TCO, Lights Up At Night

By TNM Staff on April 24, 2017

Edgewater’s 391-unit Biscayne Beach is just about ready to turn over condo units to their new residents after the building obtained a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy last week.

Completion is almost exactly three years after work began, and one year after top off.

Groundbreaking took place in late April 2014, with the foundation pour in November 2014. Top off at 51 stories was early May 2016.

Closings are expected to begin shortly.

The decorative architectural feature at the top of the 585-foot tower is lit up in multiple changing colors that can be seen for miles around at night.
