Did 1WTC even take this long to get above ground?

Yes, since there's the PATH line running through the core of 1WTC.

This building alright, a nice addition I suppose, but in that second to last rendering it kind of sucks, and it's not even as tall as 4WTC.

Excuse the negativity but wasted opportunities/getting our hopes up are annoying. I expected a lot better, but whatever there are so many amazing projects going up in NYC right now I'm sure I'll get over it

I did to.

IDK why they didn't go taller and do what a lot of other developers are doing; raise the units but cater for a different market (as opposed to the market that we see in One57 or 432 Park). A super tall could easily have happened. At least based on the 1300+ foot model. Even with a glut of ultra luxury units, this tower is not utilizing its full potential. I think the reduction of height is a response to risk. Granted its nitpicking as its almost 300m, but with 80 South and 45 Broad set to rise, IDK why this couldn't be like those projects.

I think I heard somewhere that was the top floor but don't quote me on that... we also read 990' was the top floor at one point recently.

The most recent renderings show the building at around 960 feet to the structural top but even they depict different heights so it's hard to know.

I think they really just didn't want to ruin the spiral effect of the WTC complex so they built just under 4WTC. It'll be a nice addition but nothing special in this beast of a city.

Yeah sure looks that way. Definitely between 920-960 ft or so. In the rendering, it doesn't look like it passes 4 WTC which is 977'.

This can sit with the "highrises" until we get an actual height.

Thanks ILNY.

Yes I agree, I feel like I'm tripping everytime I see this tower. It seems to go backwards development wise. A development that deconstructs itself...

But anyways, enough of the twilight zone stuff.

The developer of this tower, Michael Shvo, has some tax issues right now.

==================

Luxury real estate developer Michael Shvo scammed the government out of $1M in taxes since 2010

Quote:
A major real estate developer has been indicted for ripping off New York State in a $1 million tax evasion scam, prosecutors said.

Michael Shvo, who has U.S. and Israeli citizenship, faces seven counts of criminal tax fraud. He was released on $500,000 bond in a deal struck between his lawyers and the Manhattan District Attorney.

Assistant D.A. Lisa White said the wealthy 43-year-old "engaged in a six-year scheme to evade New York State and local sales tax" as well as corporate taxes and taxes owed on the sale of "art, furniture, jewelry and a Ferrari."

Shvo "falsely represented that the purchases would be shipped to Shvo Art Ltd. at its registered address in the Cayman Islands or other overseas destinations, and therefore, no sales tax was collected," according to court papers.

[...]

Shvo and his corporation pleaded not guilty in front of Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Daniel FitzGerald late Thursday morning.

He faces up to 15 years behind bars if convicted.

125 Greenwich St., is the slated to be completed in 2018 and rise to 1,017 feet, making it the 10th-tallest U.S. tower being built, according to data from Skyscraper Center.

.....“They are in the predevelopment stage and looking to put their entire construction financing package together to start vertical construction,” he said. “We should be involved in that when they are ready.”

So this is back to super tall status?

This tower is a suspenseful shroud of mystery.
