That's a gorgeous shot! Obviously just the lighting in the image though. Nice post.

Found a pretty nice shot of London a few days ago...

I don't think the current version is bad at all, certainly not from that angle.

Maybe not skylines, but this is fascinating nevertheless: [URL=http://www.blogto.com/city/2011/09/what_the_suburbs_used_to_look_like_around_toronto/"What the suburbs used to look like around Toronto[/URL]

examples: corner of Jane/Finch, 1960; Don Valley Parkway, 1961:

Sun Life Building. 122m-24 floors. First phase (7 storey podium) built in 1918.
16 storey set back tower added in 1931.
In 1931 it was the 2nd tallest building in the country, and the 125th tallest in the world.

Replaced the old YMCA building (1895-1913)

The writing was on the wall for the Hotel Laurentien (and other nearby hotels, e.g., the famous Queen's Hotel) given the shift away from long distance train travel (nearby Windsor Station).

They were cut down in the 1980s during a reconstruction of the park. It's known as the Gore Park Massacre. You can read about it here.

Vintage St. John's

This is part of a larger Memorial University thesis describing life in lower-class neighbourhoods of St. John's in the 1980s. It's just... perfect. This could be applied equally to several of my aunts,
