This is most likely a sales strategy. Property had been in the market for some time. If you plan to build you wouldn't have up for sale. City shouldn't extend approvals if property is on the market.

Does this project still have a leg? I just saw it listed in the new Austin Way magazine as an upcoming hotel development?!?

I personally don't think that it has a leg (or roof) to stand on.

This project may not be dead. Possibly on life support...but not dead. Site plan extension request for one year was filed this past fall.

The property seems to have been acquired by 416 Congress LLC on September 29, 2014. The new owners are requesting the extension of the site plan to "allow time to engage consultants and pursue building permits" on said property.

Yea it would be nice but even if it gets going it may end up being a different design.

Ok, maybe not timeless, but it's wayy more interesting than anything that's gone up in the past 5 yrs IMO. No more blue/beige boxes!

Might be the only funding this project ever gets.

Well if they don't do something soon they should open it up as a dance club again (nothing but EDM Dance/Electronica). I get irritated when a nice building like that stays empty. At least have it used for events on a temporary basis.

How can you throw shade at the retail scene on Congress north of the lake? I once bought a bottled ice tea beverage at that CVS. It was amazing.

As a gay man, I have to put my foot down here:

By definition you cannot throw shade at an inanimate object. Shade is not just something that's insulting, but rather shade is defined as something that comes across (I.E. perceived by, ergo the limiting factor against non-humans) to the person it's directed at as actually being a positive when in fact it's a negative. I.E. an insult that goes over someone's head.

A great example that I always give to straight people is a southern saying to a northerner "bless your heart." That's shade, because it's an insult that a northerner would not identify as such.

Cool, I had no clue that it meant anything like that. I've never heard it in any kind of context that lent it enough meaning to be able to figure it out, so I assumed it was just a form of general disrespect, with an attitude.

I hate to bump the throw shade stuff, but there is another filing from today to extend the site plan again. It was last extended for a year this past November. I guess they must be having trouble selling the site and want to go ahead an extend it through most of 2016.
