It's at 1,149 right now, they're on a windbreaker floor and they have a few floors left until concrete is done...and the tuned mass damper.

1149’ is a very noteworthy and interesting section to mark in time as its the highest apartment. its all mechanicals and crown from here out.

Find 111 W 57th in this haystack......

Courtesy of YouTuber Freewaywiz, posted app. 9 hours ago:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2PylkS_Uxo

Feel free to skip to about 6:00 in when the Grand Assemblage furst peeks into view.

@9:08: The brief, but powerful Downtown cameo @ app. 9:40 in.

@:50: New Kosiusz(?)ko Bridge towers.

The real fun starts at 10:15 with the sweeping right turn to the first good idea of the massiveness that is Midtown.

At about 11:05 we get our first good look from this approach to the urban growth spurt that is my dearly departed YiaYia's Long Island City.

My point here is 111, Nordstrom, and 1V are surprisingly difficult to catch first time. 53W53/Verre, OTOH, is easy to spot. And 30H just looks outright small.

Even when 111 and Nordie top out, they're still gonna look a good deal like just slightly taller members of the family rather than the giants they are.

FWIW I offered some quick obs in the comments section of his vid on YT iself.

It might look very impressive up close, but from a distance (or hazy day) this building will have the visual impact of a giant smokestack, same goes for 432 park

I see them from a distance everyday also. They hardly look like smokestacks. They look like very tall skyscrapers, which is what they are.

It's such an incredible reminder to realize that the height that this remains to go is equal to the height of most smaller-medium sized American cities' tallest building.

This is a tower for the architect book illustrations.

Literally, when you go to Barnes and Nobles, you will see an architect book years from now, with the cover illustration as this tower.

"Architecture 101, Principles of How to Build a World Icon"

Likewise with Verre.

These are gold standard towers. Also motivation, for the Kaufman like architects of the world, who maybe need that mental breakthrough to transform shit into gold.

Next, when we get 9 DeKalb and 45 Broad up, they can also join that discussion.

Indeed. I'm hoping the Midtown Rezoning will welcome many new icons. We also have Phase II of HY which I believe 2019 should see the first major/new renderings.

Hopefully some nice architecture rises out of the yards for PII.
