Said on the news this morning that all is good to go for October, so hopefully not. Can't wait to start using it

Broadmoor and the basketweave are still impassable and the latter is still a week or more from being ready. Still lots of paving to do also.

The arrow on signage for the 2nd lane on the SB-EB flyover is just covered up, suggesting the decision to reduce it from 2 lanes to 1 was made at some point after signage was ordered (probably more than 3 years ago now)

Will the flyover structure support adding that second lane?

Absolutely. It's wide enough and as per all drawings/renderings it was supposed to open as 2 lanes. I might fire off an email asking why they've changed it because I fail to understand. You can see it in the width of the piers in this pic: left flyover 2 lanes wide, right flyover is 1.

Henday/Yellowhead bridge in the NW prepped for 2 lanes painted as such:

2 lanes. That pic of the single lane above is the WB-SB flyover at Henday/YHT in the west, which is a single 4.8m lane. Final config will be two 3.7m lanes. This is also what the new SB-EB flyover will look like, despite the original stage 1 plan:

That all is rather odd. No reason not to have left 2 lanes.

The good news is that traffic will be fairly low on that movement, so it's not a huge loss... unlike the flyovers in the west which are both ready for their second lane.

The guardrail I've pointed to in this render is not actually there but could be pretty useful:
I saw them installing guardrails along that section today.

Several new series of pics posted on their website, though the last group is mislabeled as "November 2016"

Broadmoor and the mainline bridges over the tracks just east of Henday are all going to come down to Thursday or overnight Friday to be fully done. Everything else will be fine.

Anthony Henday Drive at night, filmed a few nights ago. It's so close to opening now! Supposed to be completely opened by October 1st!

Just an FYI you misspelled Henday in the video title, it'll affect search results.

  • SB Henday to EB Yellowhead flyover now open (for pretty much nobody to use yet)
  • The flyover, thankfully, is 2 lanes for its entirety unlike the 1 lane as advertised by the AB Trans guy
  • NB Henday to WB Yellowhead flyover might open today (Wednesday) by the looks of it, but the last bridge isn't painted yet and still needs a bit of other work
  • MSE wall under the SPF flyover still not done
  • Broadmoor braided ramp bridge still doesn't seem like it'll be open, it's not painted and the wing walls aren't done so at the very least crews will be working on it till the last minute
  • Crews still working on signage, line painting, guardrails, delineators, etc.

Used all but the SBH to WBY today. happens when you miss the exit. but looking good. River crossing should be open within the week.

If it's not open on Saturday they're paying $100k a day so I'm guessing Saturday.

It'd have been really helpful if the WB Yellowhead bridge over the river was at least 4 lanes. As it is you have effectively 6 lanes of traffic merging down into 3 in a pretty short distance; I'm thinking that's part oft he reason why the N-W flyover is only one lane despite that fact it will carry more traffic than the 2 lane S-E flyover. Traffic for the NB-WB movement will drop by maybe a quarter once mainline is open, so I'm curious to see how traffic flows in that area during rush hour.

The people running this project have been hustling for 4 years to get things done. Good job on such an extensive project.

Hate to think if the city was managing this project considering their recent history
