help identify this plant

Last couple years I've noticed this plant showing up more in my garden near Edmonton, it seems to be some kind of perennial or else seeds itself very well. It seems to grow from one common very strong tap root but spreads out. I've finished the Internet without finding any info. Could anyone help me identify it? Has anyone else noticed this plant too? These are the best pics I have access to at the moment but will try to get better ones.

Thx for any help or pointers about where else to ask.

your best bet would be to contact on the of the nurseries or garden shops (salisbury, holes enjoy centre, millcreek, greenland etc.) or maybe even muttart. you might even have some luck with one of edmonton public library's research staff.

There are also various phone apps available that allow you take a picture of the leaf or flower that the app will compare against its database.

Here's a bit better pic. It looks like Mallow might be pretty close. I'll look into Mallow further.
