Or the Canada-China game we had a few months ago; apparently, most of the audience was PRC nationals who realized it was a curbstomp and left after halftime.
Very true, but not covering this event at all, or how successful its been over a few seasons now does even less. And yes the turnout for an actual team would be less, but that wouldnt matter since the NBA teams make money before selling even 1 ticket for the year. The good part would be we would then go back to having 2 major pro sports franchises that just adds another attraction to our city during the dreary wet winter months

Radio?

[For the record, the TV news were throwing lots of coverage about the game.]

I doubt anybody would say no to another team, but the question remains, would that be enough money for profit? Contrary to what management says, it's not "love of the game" that keeps sports franchises going!

Vancouver listed among betting favourites to land NBA's New Orleans Pelicans

Rob Williams Jan 28, 2019

If the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans need a new home, Vancouver is one of the favourites to land them.

That’s according to online gambling giant Bovada, which currently lists Vancouver with the third-best odds to acquire the franchise, should it relocate to a new city before the 2020-21 season.

With 7-2 odds, Vancouver is close behind Seattle and Orange County at 3-1, but ahead of Las Vegas (4-1), Mexico City (4-1), San Diego (15-1), Louisville (15-1), and Kansas City (16-1).

Wouldn't that be poetic if the Grizzlies ended up back in Vancouver. For whatever reason I would be more supportive of an NBA team if it were the Grizzlies moving back to Vancouver. Probly because it would be a chance to finish what we started.

By 2020, Vancouver's population will have grown to almost a million more people than its population in 1995, when the Grizzlies first arrived in Vancouver. And with with a huge Chinese population in Vancouver, and the NBA being so popular in China, Vancouver would seem like a perfect fit for the NBA. The NBA didn't get to be so popular in China til after the Grizzlies left Vancouver.

New Orleans might not be the only team on the move though.

Several prospective ownership groups are watching the Memphis Grizzlies, according to a report by ESPN. The same franchise that called Vancouver home from 1995 to 2001 also has an uncertain future. Drawing just 15,462 fans per game, they rank 26th in average attendance and are a relocation candidate.
