That car in the parking spot has some nice anti-grav technology .

really is a shame this design was downgraded to a generic block.
the previous design at least worked to echo the deep eves and overhangs of the
new arena.

I changed the status to U/C. One of the three tower cranes has been up for a couple weeks. It can be seen among the sea of cranes in the 1801 Congress webcam.

The webcam link in the sticky thread now leads to a 404.

The URL was mistyped. Change 'moddy' to 'moody' in the URL and you'll see it again.

Cross-posting from the DKR thread - there are some pictures of the Moody construction at the end of this album: https://imgur.com/a/zPsMHI7

It won't let me embed these at the moment.

I can't wait to finally see this one rise from the ground. I think people are going to really love how it looks and how much low key it is compared to the Erwin Center.

It seems new stadiums are trending subterranean, like the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. But they aren't doing it to save money, SoFi costs over 5Billion, and UT's new arena will cost about 340 Million, still a ton of money. SoFi may be the most beautiful stadium in the US if not the world. Jerry Jones was in attendance for the Cowboy vs Rams game. He might have had a reason to be a tad jealous. I do tip my hat to the designers of the Moody Center. The entrance is going to be unique and grande for Austin, For most attendees, instead of walking up to their seats, they'll have to walk down. Looking down from the entry ways is going to make this arena look so much bigger and impressive since it won't look that way from street level to the unexpecting. I also like that it is caddy whompoms from the football stadium. I will miss the Drum. It is a cool looking landmark driving on I35 especially when lit up and displaying a brightly lit Marquee. I always thought it gave Austin a big city feel, particularly in the 80s and 90s.

Moody is underground due to a CVC they are trying to stay under. It all just depends on the specific site. NRG stadium is fully above ground, Minute Maid and Toyota Center go below ground.

It seems like the hole being dug is a lot bigger than the arena footprint. Will there be underground parking as well?

This was from before the plan was to get rid of red river so changes have been made.

This project ended up with four tower cranes, and it looks like they are all up now.

Anyone have an idea when/if the Erwin Center turns to dust?
