Definitely buy used. Even if it's just a year or two old it'll be so much cheaper.

I've been thinking about what I want to buy in a few years. I won't need a car in St. John's, but I'll probably buy a new one when I finish school. I kinda like the Fiat 500, I think it would be a great city car.

Others I would consider (at least among affordable cars):

Scion tC
Pontiac G8 (they're expensive now, but will probably be very cheap soon)
Kia Forte Koup
Hyundai Genesis Coupe (brand new, so expensive now, but maybe by 2014...)
Saab 9-3 (can usually be found for a reasonable price)
Acura TL (before they ruined the entire lineup)

I absolutely love(d) my LS, and would definitely drive another. The only thing stopping me would be maintenance; it's tough to work on, and everything is expensive since it's a luxury brand.

And if I could spend the money to import a car, I would love one of these:

Meth is all over the west. Oklahoma has a huge problem. Small towns here in CO do. Wyoming is bad. New Mexico. Montana.

Basically... anywhere where it's rural, boring, and poor, and they realized, for pretty cheap, they could manufacture meth, which meant they could make their own drugs, since everything else is kinda scarce.

Boring as they may be, I don't think you can go wrong with a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. Resale values on Kias and Hyundais, despite improved reliability, is still terrible.

I'd rather take advantage of poor resale value than fall victim to it.

I never understood why buyers of Toyota and Honda care so much about resale value, particularly when most of them keep said cars for updwards of 5 years. How bad is a car when the best thing you can say is the resale value is great!

My wife and son are leaving for Arkansas in the morning. I get whole week to myself. What to do. What to do.

Your definition of "bad" and my definition of "bad" are apparently worlds apart.

I like my cars to last for more than 5 years without having to worry about it falling apart. If its boring, so be it, because I don't particularly care so long as it does what it was designed to do on a daily basis requiring little more than routine maintenance.

I'm liking my Honda Civic even though I can be sitting in traffic and see 15 of them all around me.

Kudos to you and your 4000' deca-tuplets. I grow tired of Troubador and Kantos' irrationality.

Well I had a '95 Saturn that lasted 10 years and 200,000 miles. The only thing is that it liked to burn oil. When I traded it in it still ran great. Today I drive a '04 Nissan Sentra with 106,000 miles and a laundry list of things that have gone wrong, but at least it doesn't burn oil. Granted, it's very safe to say my next car will not come from a company with an 'a' in its name...

Anything under 100F this time of year is "cool." They've had some odd Memorial Day weather the past few years.

Its 60F up in Flag with 60mph winds, if that's more your style?

It was 87 and very windy here today, still way too hot. Now it's cooled down nicely, and is definitely more my style. I cannot sleep in the heat.

Edit: Just checked and it's 68 here now. Still shorts and t-shirt weather for me.
