Overall I understand why people do not want to sit in the stands in -20 weather, but historically most CFL teams attendance goes up after Sept 1.
You don't see people in Green Bay, Chicago, Pittsburgh, New England etc. asking to change the NFL season and the cold does not reduce attendance there.

Sorry, I had misinformation on this year's NFL draft which is happening the end of April.
2014 CFL Draft: May 13
2014 NFL Draft: May 8-10
Given that I'd say training camp would be at least two weeks out or May 27th. Two weeks of camp, two weeks of pre-season and it's already the end of June. Tough timing for sure.
The difference in average temperatures between Regina and colder US areas is not insignificant.
Average November temperatures:
Regina 0.1C/-10.5C
Green Bay 5.7C/-2.8C
Foxboro: 11C/1C
Chicago: 9.2C/1.4C
Pittsburgh: 10.7C/1.5C
Riders attendance tends to lag the last two games of the season. It's good through most of September and October, but those last two games near the end of October and the beginning of November are usually down in attendance. Then again, the CFL continues to schedule November Rider games at 7:00PM. I know they are pandering to the Eastern audience and trying to get close to Prime Time, but show us the numbers of who in the East is watching that game between a meaningless with respect to the playoffs game between Saskatchewan and Edmonton. At least play in the daylight when the chance of the sun warming you a bit is there. I'd go to a game in the warm sun in mid-fall, but not after sundown. That's just painful when the wind is out.
Part of the attendance issue could also be lack of interest in some meaningless games. I'm not sure what to make of the 15,000 fans in Montreal for the East Semifinal and the only 26,000 in Edmonton for the west Semifinal. Both of those numbers were lousy. Really lousy.
